Simtars fosters links with next generation of health professionals

02 April 2019

Ongoing research is a key driver to developing new technologies that will keep workers in the mining, resources and allied industries safe in the future. With this in mind, Simtars regularly supports the new generation of researchers and practitioners in the occupational health and resource-related fields by hosting them at its Redbank facilities.

Our most recent visitors—postgraduate students from UQ & QUT—were given the opportunity to see what we do at Simtars and how we contribute to the safety and health in the Queensland’s resources sector.

The visit included a meet and greet with our leadership team; demonstrations of our virtual reality theatre; flame path transmission testing apparatus; the ever-popular propagation tube; and a tour through our general laboratories.

Participants were then able to discuss in more detail the work Simtars staff do and highlight their own areas expertise. No doubt we shall see some familiar faces at the Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conference in August this year!
