Worker fatally injured at Mount Britton mine
Please attribute the following to Resources Safety and Health Queensland CEO Rob Djukic:
RSHQ is investigating an incident that resulted in the death of a 58-year-old man who was working alone at a small mine at Mount Britton on Friday 2 January.
Early investigations show the man was prospecting for gold on a mining lease associated with a small-scale gold operation when he was struck by a piece of rock.
Sadly, he later died as a result of his injuries.
Our investigation is ongoing and will thoroughly examine the nature and cause of this tragic incident.
Our thoughts are with the worker’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
