Industrial manslaughter trial verdict

Please attribute the following to a Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) spokesperson:

RSHQ is aware of the Mastermyne Crinum Operations Pty Ltd trial verdict regarding the incident that led to the death of Graham Dawson in 2021.

We investigated the incident and presented a brief of evidence to the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor.

The jury’s verdict reflects community expectations that the safety of Queensland workers is the highest priority for all mining companies.

This is the first time a charge of industrial manslaughter has been brought under the mining safety and health legislation since its commencement in 2020.
