Fatal incident at Mammoth coal mine

We have commenced an investigation into the incident that occurred on Friday 2 January at Mammoth mine in Central Queensland, where a coal mine worker was tragically killed.

RSHQ has issued several directives to the mine to mitigate potential further risk to workers and investigators are currently on site.

Our thoughts remain with the family, friends and colleagues of the worker who lost his life, and with the entire mining community, at this time.

Loss of life in mining operations is unacceptable. Our investigation into the cause of the incident that resulted in this tragedy will be detailed and thorough.
