What are MDLDs?
Mine dust lung diseases are work related lung conditions caused by long-term exposure to harmful levels of respirable dust.
Prevention
Mine dust lung diseases can be prevented by reducing exposure to respirable dust. Disease can be caused by breathing in dusts derived from coal, crystalline silica, asbestos and other minerals.
Detection
Continued exposure to respirable dust can worsen the symptoms of mine dust lung diseases, which is why early detection is so important.
